3D Barrier Shattering Effect created with Houdini 20’s RBD SOP Solver. I utilized glue and soft bullet constraints to simulate the shattering, along with an iron rod inside the barrier. Additionally, I incorporated grains and dust for a more realistic appearance. I have also uploaded a simple Houdini file example, including static wall and rod breaking, to provide a better understanding of the workflow. This allows you to test on static geometry for a quick check of the values. For rendering, I utilized Karma XPU and rendered all layers separately to facilitate compositing and enhance the look in post-production. Note: To achieve a more realistic behavior, I implemented some manual workflows post-simulation for better art direction of the simulation.
